Overview
Counselling is a supportive one-to-one engagement that helps you navigate a crisis. It offers professional support in the face of some of life’s more challenging times. When life presents us with stresses and events that make us feel out of control, or overwhelmed, counselling offers a professional opinion and guidance for working through these challenges.
What is counselling?
Counselling is one-to-one contact with a trained counsellor. He or she understands what it can mean for a person to be struggling with the circumstances of his or her life and how the stress impacts on an individual.
Within the counselling space, you will look at all your options and the potential outcomes with the help of the counsellor. You will be helped and guided towards the best resolution for whatever situation you may be facing. Counselling can highlight other personal issues, bringing them into awareness for consideration further down the line.
Having professional help through significant and challenging events can help educate and equip you as you move forward in life. Often, it is too much to try to manage life and its challenges by yourself. A trained counsellor can not only offer support and understanding, but can explore your own resources and uncover ways for you to cope and manage in times of stress and worry.
Our Practitioners
Our practicing Counsellors / Psychotherapists are professionally trained and qualified and accredited by (or are pre-accredited members of) the prominent accrediting bodies, such as the IACP (Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), and the IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Therapy) among others. The professional body members have trained for a minimum of 5 years and upto 7 years depending on their qualification. All practitioners are trained upto the drafted regulatory requirements that will come into effect in the future. They are also in ongoing case supervision and engage in CPD to keep up to date with current research. Please see each individual therapist’s profile for a more in-depth look at their practice method, qualifications and the areas in which they specialise.
