Bio

Lorna has a degree in Social Science, H.Dip in Psychology and Masters in Occupational Psychology all from University College Dublin. She is chartered psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (Reg. Psychol., Ps.S.I)
She has over 12 years experience working with children and young adults assessing and supporting their emotional, educational, behavioural and psychological development. She has many published articles in peer reviewed psychological journals and conference publications on subjects such as Resilience, Positive Psychology, Community Psychology and well being.
She has worked with young people experiencing social and educational disadvantage assessing their needs and designing and implementing interventions to keep them engaged in school. This position involved extensive research, publication and travel all over Europe presenting on best practice for working with vulnerable young people in education.
Lorna managed the Jigsaw Youth Mental Health Programme (for 12-24 year olds) in Ballymun. She also served as part of a multi disciplinary team in The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (HSE) delivering services to young people with serious mental health issues. For the last number of years she has held the position of Assessment Psychologist for the Dublin Regional Marriage Tribunal along with the role of Educational Assessor in Private Practice.
Lorna provides one to one Well-being Coaching. Her unique approach combines elements of positive psychology, motivational interviewing, mindfulness and personal reflection. She works with people who are feeling unhappy, unfulfilled and stuck in their life or career. She helps people uncover their true values and use this as a guide for transformational growth and change. Lorna offers a safe, confidential and non judgmental space for clients to work through their issues and ultimately lead a happier, more connected and meaningful life.
When doing assessment work Lorna loves to work closely with the children and families in her care. She believes that assessments should be child-friendly, therapeutic and ultimately fun where possible. She has an accessible, warm and engaging manner. She is experienced at writing Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) and advising schools on how best to work with young people who have specific learning difficulties.

Lorna is a qualified yoga teacher and she lives in Monkstown with her partner John and their two British Bulldogs.
